Hi . Would first make sure you have power going to the heater speed resister pack . From memory the recomended way to remove heater was to remove the dash top and centre part of dash .
Many years ago somebody came up with this easier ? method .

Remove heater hoses and plate/gasket on bulkhead
Break of outlets with point-nose pliers(will be all brittle anyway)
Remove section of dash under steering where shelf is(4screws)
Remove two screws securing matrix in box
Bend back bracket where clutch cable would go(great if auto)
cut out section of heater box(in drawing)
Remove matrix
Put in new matrix
Don't know if this would work for the motor though .

Hi Gary
Hope you are well, is the heater speed resister pack on the top of blower housing ( as i believe there are some heat sinks on top) on on top of the motor inside , also do you know what the vacuum is, that is attached to the left of the blower housing.
Also cant seem to find a electrical diagram which matches my Granada, its a 1992 Cosworth facelift, thanks again for your help

Hi cos608: These might help:

http://granada-and-scorpio.com/phpbb/vi ... e1e2#p3045
http://granada-and-scorpio.com/phpbb/vi ... 10e3#p2093

- as the key culprits (usually !) are the resistor pack Garry mentioned or the dash switch rather than the motor itself ?

There is a photo in the top link showing that pack in situ too.

No vacuum pipes are involved with the heater: Just post up a photo to help with identification ?

Thanks Dave w and Gary will try again and check the main switch on dashboard ,to see if switching earth to all positions , i believe my resistor matrix is on top of the housing for blower motor ( easy to access) and all looks good but will retest.

Well Dave the 1245 Haynes Manual points you in the right direction of course.....'One spanner' symbol... so seems easy, right ?!
'Helpfully' their photo shows it with the top already off ...

It's worse on the Cosworth - less space - but (as usual) there are a bunch of clips and screws etc on the top to confound you !
-And so make a 'puller' first by heating/bending the last few inches of a screwdriver with a 90-degree bend.
-And take the windscreen wiper linkages off ....

This photo possibly won't help much either, it's the heater box off a Mk2, but quite similar to Mk3...
but at least it gives you an idea of what it all clips onto..

eg. the Heater Matrix is located just below the Blower Motor assembly
(although it does not show the Vac. Actuator which is on the side of the box (inside the vehicle)

It would be great if you could post up some photos of the whole procedure to help others too.
